In Balaruc, the lagoon (Etang) of Thau is the place for various nautical activities where you can find your favorite sport; discover a new practice such as stand-up paddleboarding; admire this marvelous lagoon on board the Baroulaïre, with the nautical center or even enjoy our beaches. The lagoon is classified as Natura 2000, this protected ecosystem is suitable for swimming: in the areas dedicated to it, its waters are shallow; the weaker currents than at sea make it a safe and pleasant place to swim and cool off in safety.
When it comes to walks and discoveries, the "Etang de Thau" is the largest body of water in the Occitanie region. So if you plan to sail, cycle, or simply discover the towns and villages of our territory, it's in the Thau basin that it happens!
